Development Co-operation Project for Ukraine (no 474/2015) "Support and improvement of the Ukrainian capital market"

The Project implementation period: April–December 2015 (implementation of expert missions: June–November 2015).

The overall aim of the Project

To improve the competence of the Ukrainian capital market supervision and to support the multidimensional institutional development of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine. Additionally, the activities undertaken within the Project will contributed to the Ukrainian and the EU approximation which was in line with the Polish Foreign Policy Priorities for 2012-2016 regarding the Polish support for the accession aspirations and assistance in political and economic transformation.

Project objectivites

To improve the competences of approximately 115 employees of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine in a series of trainings conducted by the experts of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF). The Project met the current needs of the capital market in Ukraine within training needs research conducted in collaboration with the Ukrainian supervision.

The scope of the Project

The Project covered preparation and implementation of 9 training missions within the area of capital market supervision i.e.: off-site supervision of investment funds and trading surveillance, public offerings issues, effective combating fraud on capital market, clearing and settlement issues, framework and requirements to stock exchanges functioning, investor protection in the light of the regulatory requirements within MIFID, legal facilities for retail investors’ interest protection. The trainings were conducted in the Beneficiary’s country, Ukraine, Kiev between June and November 2015.

Financial resources of the Development Co-operation Project No 474/2015:

The Project was financed by the Polish development cooperation programme 2015 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
