Banking Sector Performance
Quarterly Evaluation of the Banking Sector Performance - A Synthesis, is prepared by the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision based on banks' reporting. Annual and quarterly "Syntheses" are published also in English.
"Syntheses" are submitted to banks' governors and state administration units, and also disseminated to interested external users (consulting firms, universities, journalists, etc.). They are available to the general public in the NBP library.
They present, in a synthetic way, major components of assets, liabilities and off-balance-sheet items; their quality structure and specific reserves provided; as well as banks' own funds, including the ownership structure; and the solvency ratio. The analysis of income, expenditure, financial performance and selected indexes allows the comparison of peer-groups performance.
It should be stressed that the term "banking system" excludes NBP, banks under liquidation and under bankruptcy proceedings, and that the "Syntheses" are prepared based on preliminary data, which means that further corrections submitted by banks are included only in subsequent publications.
