On 16 June, a bilateral meeting took place at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF) between Jacek Jastrzębski, Chair of the KNF, and Verena Ross, Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). The meeting was also attended by representatives of the UKNF’s Capital Market Supervision Division and International Cooperation Department.

The meeting was dedicated to the ongoing activities in the European Union with regard to restoring competitiveness of the European financial market, including the relevant initiative of the European Commission, i.e. the Savings and Investments Union (SIU) , and activities for the simplification of regulations, reduction of regulatory requirements and minimisation of administrative burden.

The discussion also addressed the enhancement of supervision over cross-border business activities, investor protection and the need to increase confidence in the European financial services market, including options   for more effective measures that could be used by financial supervisors in those areas.
