Conference on ‘Data as the basis for the functioning and development of the financial market’

The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF) and the University of Economics in Katowice hosted the participants of the ‘Data as the basis for the functioning and development of the financial market’ conference, organised at the Advanced Information Technology Centre of the University of Economics in Katowice.

The opening remarks were given by dr hab. Jacek Jastrzębski, prof. UW, the Chair of the KNF Board, prof. dr hab. inż. Celina Olszak, Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice, prof. dr hab. Alojzy Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw and prof. dr hab. inż. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of the Poznań University of Technology. The presentations touched on the role of data in modern supervision, the impact of science on the socio-economic development and technological progress vs. the functioning and development of the financial market. Krzysztof Szubert, member of the UN’s Internet Governance Forum’s High-level Leadership Panel, presented on managing information in modern organisations. The Chief Technology Officer at IBM Poland, Piotr Beńke, gave a presentation on the status of activities on and the time horizon for quantum computers, which are set to revolutionise data processing, to enter the market.
