All the goals and results of the Project were successfully achieved.

The overall aim of the Project

To improve the competence and operational capacity of the Ukrainian banking sector supervisor and to support the multidimensional institutional development of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Additionally, the activities undertaken within the Project aimed to contribute to the Ukrainian and the EU approximation which is in line with the Polish Foreign Policy Priorities for 2016-2020 regarding the Polish support for the accession aspirations and assistance in political and economic transformation.

Project objectives and results

To improve the competences of approximately 251 employees of the National Bank of Ukraine in a series of 6 training and consultation workshops conducted by the UKNF experts in Kiev and one study visit in Warsaw in the Polish supervisory authority.

The Project was an expert support of the Polish supervisor for Ukraine and met the current needs of the banking sector in Ukraine within bilaterally specified training needs research conducted in collaboration with the Ukrainian supervisor.

The scope of the Project

The Project covered preparation and implementation of 6 training and consultation missions in Kiev and 1 study visit in Warsaw within the area of banking sector supervision i.e.: implementation of the BCBS Core Principles in regard to inspection process procedures, Pillar II and Pillar III of the Banking Union (BRRD and DGSD), liquidity risk in banks, evaluation of qualifications of the members of authorities and people who exercise key functions in a bank, identification and supervision of so called ,,weak" - banks and rehabilitation programme, supervisory review and evaluation (SREP). All the project activities were successfully completed between August and November 2017.

The Project was financed by the Polish development cooperation programme 2017 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

Project total value: PLN 200 000,00.

As a result of the application process and in line with the decision of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the financing was awarded to the proposal, submitted by the UKNF, i.e. Development Co-operation Project  No 313/2017 "Strengthening the institutional and operational capacities of the National Bank of Ukraine” within the Development cooperation plan for 2017.
